Step-by-Step Guide to Fingerprinting

Locating an Accredited Fingerprinting Agency 

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has authorized various companies to provide fingerprinting services.There agencies are fully accredited and certified to use both traditional paper ink and roll techniques, as well as liveScan and Cardscan technology. Required Documents and Information 

When visiting a fingerprinting agency, individuals must provide at least two official government-issued identification documents with photographs. Acceptable forms of ID include passports, driver’s licences, Indian status cards, provincial photo cards, PR cards, NEXUS cards, and FAST Passes. It’s crucial to note that health cards issued by Canadian provinces or territories and Social Insurance Numbers(SIN) are not accepted. 

Submitting Your Fingerprints to RCMP 

Accredited Fingerprinting Agencies are authorized to take and submit fingerprints for civil purposes and submit them electronically to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services(CCRTIS). The Processing Time
  • If there is NO match to a criminal record– 3-5 business days 
  • The results are mailed to the mailing address, and extra time should be allowed for delivery by Canada Post. 
  • If manual processing is involved or if there is a possible match to a criminal record — 120 business days
  •  In some cases, more time may be required due to submitting incomplete information or clarifying parts of the application with local police. Check the Report Status

Once Goodwin Canada submits the fingerprints electronically, the applicant will receive confirmation via email that the Canadian Authority has processed the transaction.

After submission, the applicant must contact the RCMP if you would like to know the status of the result:
